Services Matrix
Peer SupportOne - to one peer supportIndividual support provided by one peer support worker. The peers support worker does not need to be qualified. Most agencies in Aotearoa NZ follow this model. It is in the MSD guidelines for Male Support services.

Peer led PSG Drop in – males (also is Phase 3 of the Tri-phasic programme)Regular peer support groups led by peer support workers. The participants can come and go as they please. Generally there is no syllabus. The programme is on-going with no end dates. Most agencies in Aotearoa NZ follow this model. It is in the MSD guidelines for Male Support services.

Tri-Phasic ProgrammeClinically led Phase 1 PSGAlso known as the Foundation course. This has been devised by Men & Healing in conjunction with LivingWell. The 2 organisations have versions that vary slightly from each other. Mosaic is leaning towards using the LivingWell version. It is a one-off course of 8 or 10 weeks, or 1 intensive weekend, non-residential. It provides an introduction to psycho-educational concepts and gives participants a tool-kit to help them work through their therapy.

Clinically led Phase 2 PSGMen & Healing provide this in 10 week programmes. Men re-enrol after each one, for up to 10 blocks.

Other forms of Peer SupportPeer led PSG drop in - open genderA proposed concept for a group that is not only for males. This has the advantages of being less of a barrier to trans people and a way to develop peer support work for females. Being developed by Mosaic in conversation with other female agencies.

Clinically led drop in – males (SAMSN)Drop in group led by a qualified clinician(s). SAMSA provide this as their only follow-up to the foundation course.

Remutaka (corrections) transition groupProviding a specific phase 1 group to prisoners on release. Being developed in conjunction with Wellington district adult sexual assault team.

Parents group8 week Group for parents. Devised by LivingWell

Partners groupA group for partners of any gender. Similar to the parents’ group, but partners have significantly different relationships enough to justify a separate group. Provided by LivingWell from time to time.

International ColleaguesLivingWellBrisbane research and therapy centre for male survivors of sexual abuse. One of the leading world agencies. They run peer support groups, parents groups and partners groups. All their groups are clinically led. Their groups are one-off and do not repeat. Their material is open source, so any agency can use it. They also have an app that Mosaic has been given permission to use on our website. They have reviewed our website and described it as safe and professional.

Men & HealingOttawa agency considered one of the world leaders in the sector. They operate the most comprehensive peer support group model. All of their programmes are led by clinicians. Mosaic CEO Richard Jeffrey attended their Fall Institute 2018 and was trained in their model. Their phase 1 group of 10 weeks run once, and then clients move on to phase 2 groups, also of 10 weeks, which can be renewed up to 10 times.

SAMSASydney based agency that operates clinically led peer support groups. They operate 1 foundation course and then monthly drop-in follow-up groups.

MSD GuidelinesGuidelines produced by MSD in 2017-18. They describe the services that MSD wants male survivor groups to operate. Mosaic was not invited to participate in the writing of the guidelines. We have serious concerns about the quality and scope of the guidelines.
Sexual Harm survivors in groups - under 18 yearsThis refers to where survivors are allowed to participate in Peer Support groups where they committed sexual harm before the age of 18. This is the rule followed by Men & Healing. This is prohibited under the MSD guidelines.
