Kiwi Survivor Stories

HIDE MY VISIT QUICKLY

Anonymous Survivor Poem:
'Love Song for Laura Palmer'

Why  Do You Want To Tell Your Story?
To express this pain and this journey using my own voice for once. So people understand the prevalence of abuse in young lives, the gravity of it, the impacts it has on the lives of victims and survivors - sometimes ending them - and to help people understand how abuse is structured into familial, political, social and economic systems. All of these need to change so that child abuse can stop forever.
Tell Us Your Story
Love Song for Laura Palmer

hi laura

i'm the you that survived
you echoed to me
like the twang
on those bars
a quarter life
you bore
plus a little more
as gratuity
you should write it in your diary
but i want to be the one person
who doesn't tell you what to do
i had a Bob and Judy too
i keep His coat
in my closet
and i line it with stars
i keep Her curlers
in my brain
around them
i twine the Grey
the ripped mouth of horror
swallowed me too
we had no eyes
you and i
so we had to see through theirs
that Be ing
doesn't it taste salty
i know you know
doesn't it taste like raw meat
doesn't it look like it too
our meat
forked and flayed
the car you're in
has a Regina
but it doesn't have a phalange
and it'll keep driving
til it crashes
less bloody than Bret would have wrote it
but he's on their side
isn't he
one dead hand in me
one alive one
one deadened side
one deadening one
you can't say No
so Nos bubble on your skin
you can scream now
it's ok
do you wanna scream
you're allowed to
here
i'll scream with you
do you want to scream
do you want to scream
do you wanna scream
do you wanna scream
do you wanna scream
let's do it
let's
do it
here we go
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
